Usage Instructions:

Measurements and Tenons: The ideal stile thickness when using the CMT sash set is 35 mm. Determine the desired stile width to calculate tenon length. When cutting rails to length, consider adding the tenon lengths to the overall rail measurement. Tenon length should be at least half the stile width. Mill a 16 mm tenon from the stock's front face using a table saw, radial saw, or router.

Cope Profile on Rails, Sash Bar, and Muntins: To create the cope profile, place the rail face down on the router table with the tenon flush to the bit. Adjust the fence to mill 6.35 mm deeper than the tenon. For sash bars and muntins, place them face down on the router table and mill without changing the bit's height.

Stick Profile on Rails, Stiles, Sash Bar, and Muntins: To mill the stick profile along the inside edges of all sash parts, use the already milled cope profile as a reference. Adjust the sash bit so that the lower edge of the top cutter touches the upper edge of the tenon. Mill the inside edges of stiles and both edges of the sash bar and muntins.

Slots for Tenons: Measure 16 mm from the front face of the stiles and rout with a table saw to cut slots for the tenons.

The CMT Window Sash Set is optimized for 35 mm stock, but it can work with variations as narrow as 28 mm. Stock thicker than 35 mm exceeds the milling range of the cutter.

It is advisable to make a trial joint in scrap stock to ensure precise measurements before milling all cope and stick profiles.
