Anders Nielsen Christensen born on 27 June 1882 made the first mitring machine in the world in 1911 on the island of Mors – and the Morsø was born. The Danish letter ‘Ø’ means “island” therefore the name of MORSØ.
His friend, the town barber, also ran a small bookstore and picture framing business next to his barbershop. One day – that was already in 1909 - the barber said to Anders, "It's terribly difficult to get the corners of a frame to fit properly. Since you're so good at making things, do you think you can come up with something that will make it easier to put frames together?" That simple question was the birth of the business we know today as Dan-list A/S in Randers, Denmark. Its product is so unique that the product name Morsø has become part of the English language. Today the English word for mitring machine is Morso.
Anders gave the problem some thought and proceeded to construct a small, strange looking piece of machinery from angle irons and flat bars that was attached to a workbench. A rod connected the foot pedal to the machine, and when the pedal was pushed, the knives were pulled through the moulding. It was a very primitive machine, and can only be regarded as a crude prototype, but it proved one thing: it was possible to cut through mouldings instead of sawing. The idea was definitely worth exploring. Next step was that the machine was constructed in such a way that the knife block was attached to the workbench, and in order to cut the moulding you had to move the fences bit by bit towards the knives.
The first proper Morsø Mitring Machine was built in 1911.

The MORSO-EH is a fully automatic electric/hydraulic mitring machine, with a noise level below 70db - the perfect machine to cut picture mouldings in production - wooden, plastic, and MDF mouldings. In principle MORS?-EH does the same work as the MORS?-F , but with the MORS?-EH you have your work done automatically by pushing two push buttons. The MORS?-EH is safe to operate as you must activate both push buttons at the same time to have the machine work, and therefore you cannot get your fingers underneath the knives. With the MORS?-EH you can do production work all day long. The MORS?-EH can be delivered either single phase or three phase with voltage to your requirements. If you compare the MORS?-EH to a double mitre saw, you will find that first of all the cut with a saw is not as clean and accurate as with the MORS?-EH. Secondly there will very often be a problem with the dust from the saw. On MORS?-EH there is no dust, as the waste of the moulding is lead straight to the ground, which means it is not necessary to buy an expensive dust extractor. Another thing is the waste of the moulding. By using a mitre saw, there will always be about one centimetre of waste per cut, but if you see the MORS?-EH the waste is minimized to about 1 mm per cut. A difference of one centimetre may not sound of much, but if the number of cuts are 200 per day, the unnecessary waste of moulding is 200 cm per day, which is about 520 meters per year..... ( Working 5 days a week... ). If you compare the time spent per cut, the MORS?-EH normally uses 1 to 1,5 second to finish the moulding. With the saw, it is about the same, if not a little more, so even here we cannot find an advantage with the double mitre saw.... The MORS?-EH is supplied with the same standard equipment as the MORS?-F plus it has: Extension table to the left side. Automatic Rebate Supports and Moulding Clamps. Measuring scale 1500 mm with two adjustable stops - you can cut the short and long lengths of a frame without having to re-adjust the measurements. Automatic cutting cycles for both large and small mouldings - which means that the machine always does the trim cut which is very important. Adjustable length of stroke (3 positions) - when using the lowest cutting position the cutting cycle of two cuts only takes between 1 and 1.5 seconds.
