Nakahashi 12mm Japanese Mortise Chisel & Bit

Manufactured in Japan from high-grade steel, these mortice chisels and bits are supplied by Scott & Sargeant having been tested and found to outperform comparable tooling from other sources. The chisel body is heat treated, hardened, and precision finished by hand to a sharper cutting angle than the traditional English pattern, reducing the effort required during morticing whilst improving cut quality.

The auger bit features a single cutting spur and single spiral for efficient chip clearance. This geometry is straightforward to sharpen and cuts evenly and quickly, including in hardwoods.

Augers are supplied over length to suit a range of machines and may require trimming with a hacksaw to match the depth of a particular machine's chuck. This is a metric tool and will not fit imperial-specification machines without a bespoke collet.
